The non-aggressive Good Neighbor Policy is a great example of Roosevelt taking the safe route to keep the United States protected. Roosevelt proposed Latin America should united with the United States. Specifically, the accepted deal was that Cuba would let America have a military base located in their territory. This assured the Cubans safety (the reason why they accepted this deal), and America's control of the area. The United States having military control of the area is key. By uniting with Latin America, the United States had more military forces covering more ground. By maximizing military forces, Roosevelt assured the security of America. The more military forces that have control of different territories, the safer America would be. Military control wasn't the only thing America gained out of this deal. By Latin America accepting this deal, the United States had gained an ally. During that time period, having allies was key to America's safety. Roosevelt saw no reason to jump into the action. His goal was to keep his country safe, and that is what he did by striking the Good Neighbor Policy.
